Wisconsin River Description
Sauk City, along with her sister city Prairie du Sac (Sauk Prairie), are located on the banks of the Wisconsin River. The villages are located on U.S. Highway 12 and State Highways 60 and 78 about 20 miles north of Madison, Wisconsin, and about 13 miles south of Baraboo along the Wisconsin River. The Dam at Prairie du Sac is a popular spot on the Wisconsin River the whole year round. If you visit here in the summer you will always find folks with fishing poles, trying their luck below the dam.
