Lake Kegonsa Description

Lake Kegonsa State Park is a 343-acre (139 ha) Wisconsin state park located on the northeast shore of Lake Kegonsa in Dane County, WI, Southeast of Madison, Wisconsin. This state park is known for its beautiful campground, beach, and hiking trails. The park offers swimming, fishing, water-skiing, sailing, and user-friendly boat landing. Lake Kegonsa itself covers 3,209 acres and is more than 30 feet deep. Lake Kegonsa was created by a glacier during the last ice age approximately 12,000 years ago. The park consists of forest, prairie, and wetlands. The park contains approximately five miles hiking trails. Nearby attractions include the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison, and historic Stoughton.
