Channel Lake Description

There is a variety of species in Channel Lake. Consistent numbers of spawning Yellow Bass, Pumpkinseed and Bluegill can be found on the far southern end of the bay around the channel mouth as it warms quicker than the remainder of the Lake. There is also an improving population of Muskie and Northern Pike. The following lists the types of fish that can be found in Channel Lake, in the order of their abundance: Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Yellow Bass, Muskie, Walleye, Channel Catfish, Perch, Crappie, White Bass, Northern Pike, Bullhead, Smallmouth Bass, Carp. Channel Lake is part of the Northern part of the Chain of Lakes totaling 2,433 acres with a deep point of 42 feet. Located approximately 40 miles northwest of Chicago. Private Powerboats, Sailboats, Canoes, Rowboats allowed. 2 boat ramps

Channel Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in Antioch Township, Lake County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,785 at the 2000 census.
